What is the doctor’s opinion?
According to Dr Anita Sethi (Director, Ophthalmology, Fortis Hospital, Gurugram), there is no diet that can remove glasses or prevent their number from increasing. The need to wear glasses or what is also called refractive error depends on the size of the eye. In addition, family history has an effect on the number of eyes. This means that if your parents have been wearing glasses since childhood, there is a good chance that the child is also wearing glasses.
Refractive error mainly occurs in childhood, so it is important to follow a healthy diet for healthy eyes. Carrots and other colorful vegetables are a good source of vitamin A. It is good for the eyes and the skin. At the same time, children and adults alike should have good reading and screen habits. Children’s screen time should be a maximum of one hour on school days and a maximum of two hours on public holidays. Adults should eat colorful, leafy vegetables for healthy eyes.
Even more important is to protect your eyes from ultraviolet rays. People who have to stay in front of the screen for a long time should take a break from time to time to relax their eyes. Use anti-glare glasses to reduce eye strain. Glasses cannot be eliminated by any diet, but their number can be prevented from increasing.
